Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, and EMS
with School Sites and their information.

INTRODUCTION

ActVnet is a web-based solution that can be used from any web-enabled device and is intended to improve emergency response processes as well as school safety and security.

The platform may be used by schools to communicate vital site information such as shut-off valves, school emergency protocols, and school personnel information. ActVnet also gives law enforcement real-time access to live camera feeds from school sites, allowing them to immediately gain situational awareness in the case of an emergency. Making real-time communication and coordination between first responders and schools feasible. ActVnet’s web-based architecture makes it a useful and adaptable solution that can be utilized on a range of devices, making it a great asset for any department.

Granting the police access to surveillance cameras during an incident can help schools and first responders in a number of ways. It can help law enforcement quickly figure out what's going on, gather important information, and decide how to respond. With access to real-time footage, law enforcement can find possible threats, find people who need help, and better coordinate their efforts. This can increase safety for both first responders and the people they are helping.

To use this technology well, the camera views on a school campus need to be recorded and put on a map. This means figuring out where all the cameras are on the property and making a map that shows what each camera can see. Then, this information is put into a central database that law enforcement agencies can use in case of an emergency.

Once the camera views have been captured and mapped, each camera in the system needs to be renamed to match its location on the map. This makes sure that law enforcement officers can quickly figure out where a problem is and get to the right camera feed. With this technology in place, law enforcement is better able to handle emergencies on school grounds and keep students and staff safer and more secure.

ActVnet is funded and developed by the Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE), a public educational services agency which does not profit from the sale of this program. Recognizing the crucial need to enhance safety measures in educational settings, TCOE took the initiative to develop ActVnet in partnership with law enforcement. This innovative program serves as a powerful platform, fostering collaboration and coordination between schools and first responders during critical moments. ActVnet stands as a testament to the commitment of TCOE and its partners to creating a safer environment for all.
